GIVE LOCAL AND THE ROXBURY-BRIDGEWATER GARDEN CLUB
Give Local and the Roxbury-Bridgewater Garden Club are working together again this year to help beautify our local communities. The RBGC is one of the many organizations that benefit from Give Local’s 36 hours of donating from 7 a.m. on April 21st to 7 p.m. on April 22nd at http://www.GiveLocalCCF.org. Every dollar you contribute to us will be boosted with bonus funds and prizes, making the impact of your giving even greater.
The Roxbury-Bridgewater Garden Club maintains the gardens and planters on the Bridgewater Green, the Diebold Garden in Roxbury, the Friendship Garden near Burnham School, the Weller’s Bridge Garden, the Mead’s Corner Garden, the Roxbury Town Hall and Pavilion, both town’s Veteran’s Memorial plantings, the flag pole plantings at the Bridgewater firehouse, the Hut Hill Garden, and the garden at the corner of Route 67 and 317. Our volunteers constantly work in these gardens planting, weeding and pruning.
Our club is also very active in our communities, providing programs in the schools and the senior centers. We give annual scholarships and provide community education on a variety of conservation and gardening topics through our lectures and Plant Mart education table. At the holiday season we decorate each town’s public buildings with wreaths. In 2016, we planted native oak trees in both towns to provide homes for local wildlife. In 2018, we sponsored a Blue Star Memorial marker and planted companion dogwood trees in both Roxbury and Bridgewater to honor past, present, and future veterans in our towns.
Despite the extensive number of volunteer hours spent on these community activities, it is becoming increasingly expensive to maintain these gardens and programs. You can help by donating to the Roxbury-Bridgewater Garden Club through the Give Local campaign that runs from April 21-22. Please support us and help to keep our communities beautiful.
